Alicia Romero, Founder
After a lifetime as a Police Officer's daughter and then marrying a Police Officer, Alicia lived the stressors and challenges of law enforcement families first-hand. After a good friend was catastrophically injured in a line-of-duty shooting in 2016, Alicia saw her calling to support law enforcement officers and their families. As the Aurora Police Department Liaison she was able to support Officers & their families in many different ways including training classes and family events. In 2019 Alicia founded the Aurora Police Spouses Association with a small group of spouses. The 501c3 progressed the goals of supporting officers and their families with monthly events and continued connection with the department.
Beyond the Badge, LLC. brings this support to departments and agencies that do not have spouses who are able or willing to invest in such a time-consuming task of building and maintaining a family support group. In the current climate, it is difficult for departments to set themselves out from other departments when attracting new and lateral officers. Providing a family support group sets your department out from others to assist with recruiting and retention. Beyond the Badge provides tools to build Officer and family resilience, a toolbox for tragedy, and support to survive this calling.
